GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — One person has died after a semi truck rolled over and caught fire in a construction zone on Interstate 69.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, the crash was reported at 2:13 a.m. Friday near mile marker 103 on I-69.
When a deputy arrived on scene they reported finding the semi on fire and overturned.
The Sheriff’s Office driver of the semi died as a result of the incident.
The identity of the deceased and a cause of the crash has not been released at this time.
Indiana State Police Detective Kevin Getz of the Bloomington Post said southbound traffic had been shut down for some time as crash reconstruction teams were on scene. Traffic is diverted onto S.R. 445 while the investigation continues.
The sheriff’s department thanked Indiana State Police, Eastern Greene Fire, Monroe County Fire, and Greene County Ambulance for assistance at the scene.
